NOTES FROM REAL LIFE
The note-work takes place on ordinary typewriter-paper. There's always a pile of it on my table. Untouched white paper is waiting. I start drawing a few lines or a doodle. A net. Something has happened. On the table I find a supermarket bill. I read what I have bought. One of the items is called "Lichtschlauch" (light-hose). It sounds strange. I draw the word in. Coloured letters. There is silence in my studio. I turn on the radio to get rid of it and to listen to the general gossip. The radio chatters a few sentences: "In 2009 the first antibodies will be delivered." I figure out how they slip out (like Woody Allen, disguised as a sperm.) Antibody. Antichrist. Body meets antibody. Life and death. I insert the paper into an old typewriter and type the sentence. The sentence has a kind of weird seriousness. 2009 - what a date! The doodle on the paper suddenly looks like an antibody. I draw a yellow frame around it. I get myself a cup of coffee, the drawing can wait. Until 2009, if necessary. When there are enough drawings, the pile goes into a portfolio and gets filed under a name. I type all the quotations used in the drawings in random order and print them out. Now there's a new pile, made of words.
